Dr. Gross is a Dallas native and attended Highland Park High School and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He received his training in ophthalmology at Northwestern University in Chicago and Boston University in Boston and his fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at the Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He began his teaching career on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and trained medical students, residents, and fellows at The Children’s Hospital and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Dr. Gross is currently Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Texas Tech University Health Science Center, Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical School and serves as a specialist in pediatric ophthalmology at Moorfield’s Eye Hospital in London. Dr. Gross is past chair of the Section on Ophthalmology of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and past president of the Children’s Eye Foundation.

He has served as a guest lecturer and visiting professor internationally and has authored or co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed papers and textbook chapters. He received The American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Ophthalmology Special Recognition Award in 2015, the Senior Honor Award of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus in 2017 and the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Ophthalmological Association in 2024 and has been listed in the D Magazine list of “Best Pediatricians in Dallas” and Texas Monthly’s list of ‘Super Doctors’. Dr. Gross lives in London with his wife Maya and son Perry and periodically returns to Plano on a consultative basis
